Custodians of the Landscape
Twenty tonnes of Triassic sandstone.
The sandstone sculptures were carved on site at Two Rivers in the winter of 2015 by international artist Ben Dearnley. More than 20 tonnes of Triassic Narrabeen sandstone sourced from the vineyard were used to create the project.
Laid down 200 million years ago, this sandstone is renowned for its abundance of carved and painted Aboriginal rock art, which Ben directly references in his work while also reflecting the immediate landscape. Eight pieces stand around the cellar door and the entry to the vineyard.
